Calverton Village Festival, Tug o War contest against Barton Bus Drivers

Pasted Graphic 1

Dave-Jamie-Gary-Simon-Luke-Dan

Pitched their skill and strength against a heavyweight crew of Bartons ‘Calverton Connection’ bus drivers. Unfortunately incredible bulk of the pie eating bus drivers proved too much of a challenge for our intrepid heros. Luckily a case of Budweiser was just the ticket as a runner up prize. First prize was a years supply of Pork Scratchings which went to the Barton Bus Drivers...well done guys....no hard feelings....we’re bulking up for next year!!!

Results of our pedants competition.

Some weeks ago we sent out a mail-shot advertising our brand new showroom, and our Heckmondwike carpet special offer.

The copy contained several
deliberate spelling and grammatical errors, and we set a challenge for anyone who could spot them and email them to us, the prize being a bottle of Bolly Champers.

We were quite surprised at the number of saddo pedants out there!

However we have a winner and here she is.

Congratulations to Helen from St Swithuns C of E School, Retford who received the Slack & Co Pedant of the Year Award, and was presented with the promised bottle of Bolly Champers by Jamie Slack.

Helen spotted more apostrophe non-conformances than anyone else, and if anyone deserves a drink, she does!!!
